Request a Hearing

You can request a hearing if:
  • You need to start, stop, change, or correct a child support order.
  • You disagree with a decision or action regarding benefits assistance or child support.
To dispute the findings of a child protection case, you must appeal a decision.

Child Support Administration
Cuyahoga County can conduct certain types of child support hearings. You can request an administrative hearing for:
  • Paternity establishment.
  • Support order establishment.
  • Order modification.
  • Mistake of fact requests (past-due support determinations).
  • Emancipation and termination of support.
  • Determination of arrears.
  • Other related matters.
An administrative hearing cannot be used to determine issues of custody, visitation, past support, or maternity expenses. Those issues must be handled through the Cuyahoga County Domestic Relations Court.

Benefits and Child Support
If you disagree with decisions or actions concerning your child support case or benefit services -- including Medicaid, food, cash, or child care assistance -- you can request a state hearing with the Ohio government.

State hearings for Cuyahoga County are held on the Payne Avenue side of the Virgil E. Brown building, 1641 Payne Ave., Cleveland, OH, 44114.
