Food Assistance

Services - Food (2)

Cuyahoga County has many options for residents who need help paying for or getting food. Food assistance programs strive to:

  • alleviate hunger and malnutrition by increasing food purchasing power for all eligible households.
  • promote health and well-being by raising the levels of nutrition among low-income households.
  • promote agriculture and strengthen the local economy.

Apply for SNAP (Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program) benefits—also known as Food Stamps—for money that you can spend on food for you and your family. Learn more about SNAP benefits and how to apply.

Seniors and disabled adults may be eligible for in-home support services, including meal delivery.  Call Senior and Adult Services at 216-420-6700 to learn more.

Attention SNAP Recipients:

In 2020, Congress temporarily increased SNAP benefits due to the COVID-19 public health emergency. This means you have been getting an additional second payment of SNAP benefits on your EBT card each month in addition to your normal SNAP amount. The federal law has changed and no longer allows for SNAP emergency allotments. Your last SNAP emergency allotment will be in February 2023, and your benefits will be reduced to your normal amount beginning March 2023. Your normal amount is the first SNAP benefit you receive each month- the emergency allotment has been the second SNAP benefit issued at the end of the month.
