Want to go solar but unsure where to start? Don’t worry because Cuyahoga County residents are going solar together! Through the Cuyahoga County Solar Co-op residents have joined together to use the strength of their numbers to purchase solar panels at a discount.
The CC Solar Co-op consists of county residents, including county employees, who are interested in sustainable renewable energy and willing to share their experience with others and grow the use of solar and other practices. Members are from at least 30 communities.
Working with OH SUN, a state-wide collaborative focused on educating Ohioans about the benefits of solar energy, the county’s Department of Sustainability hosted a series of community meetings to explain their mission and promote the benefits of joining the co-op.
The 140-member co-op recently selected Third Sun Solar and Yellowlite to complete all of the installations. Co-op members will then have the option to purchase panels individually based on the installer’s group rate. By going solar as a group and choosing an installer, each participant generally saves up to 20% off the cost of their system in addition to existing Federal tax credits.
Solar is a smart investment that lowers your energy bills and increases the value of your home. Most importantly, you will have the support of the co-op and OH SUN throughout the entire process.

What’s the Deadline to Sign-up?
County residents, or homeowners who work in Cuyahoga County, can sign-up until December 31, 2016! Signing up is not a binding commitment, it means OH Sun will pre-access the suitability of solar for your site, and contact you for next steps.Does Ohio have enough Sunlight?
Even with our snowy winters, Ohio has enough sunlight to produce enough solar energy to power a home or a business. In comparison, Ohio’s sunlight averages 4 hours per day over a year’s time, nearly as much as Florida which averages 5 hours per day.How does the Co-op work?
