“The Fatherhood Conference has become a cherished event for fathers and father-figures in our community and gives them the tools they need to be present in the lives of those who look up to them,” said County Executive Chris Ronayne. “Celebrating fathers and the importance of father-figures in children’s lives is what the County’s Fatherhood Initiative is all about.”

The keynote speaker for this year’s awards luncheon is Peter Lawson Jones. Lawson Jones is a graduate of Harvard University, an attorney, a former legislator, and now an actor who most recently starred in the film “A Man Called Otto” alongside Tom Hanks. As a County Commissioner, Lawson Jones was responsible for establishing the Fatherhood Initiative.

Al Grimes, Administrator of the Fatherhood Initiative, is proud the initiative’s programs and partners have achieved national recognition as a best practice model through their work helping fathers and families support children.

“The conference allows us to celebrate and collaborate,” said Grimes. “We have made an extraordinary impact but, after 17 years, the need for our services continues to be more relevant than ever.”
