CUYAHOGA COUNTY, OH – August is National Child Support Awareness Month. As part of this annual event, the Office of Child Support Services (OCSS) wants to spotlight the child support program and applaud the efforts of county employees who help children and families prosper in Cuyahoga County.

The monthlong effort to bring attention to child support kicks off with Family Fun Day, held on Tuesday, August 1, from 10:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. on downtown Cleveland’s Public Square. The free event features information on county programs and community resources, activities for all ages, and a limited number of free school supplies for children.

“Events like Family Fun Day are another example of how we engage and involve county residents in our work,” said County Executive Chris Ronayne. “More than sixty community organizations are attending the event with great information and resources for families. Family Fun Day is being held under the beautiful backdrop of Public Square, and offers a fun-filled, family-focused day.”

The historic Terminal Tower is illuminated in green on Tuesday, August 1, to recognize Child Support Awareness Month.

“The work we do throughout OCSS has a far-reaching impact on children and families in the community," said OCSS Director Tiffany Dobbins-Brazelton. “I am grateful for the OCSS team members who work tirelessly with parents to create a family-centered child support program.”

One in three children are touched by OCSS in some way. More than 1 million children are served statewide in Ohio’s Child Support program each year.
