Family Fun Day is Thursday, August 4

CUYAHOGA COUNTY, OH – August is National Child Support Awareness Month. The Cuyahoga County Office of Child Support Services (OCSS) recognizes and brings awareness to the child support program and the professionals who help children and families thrive.

This year, there are a number of activities bringing attention to child support, including Family Fun Day, held on Thursday, August 4 from 10:30 a.m.-2:00 p.m. on Public Square. The event will feature food, games, and a limited number of free school supplies for children.

“Events like the County’s Family Fun Day are great ways to bring the community together for some fun, while also educating about services our residents can take advantage of,” said County Executive Armond Budish. “Fifty community organizations are expected to attend this event and can provide great info for parents and families on resources and opportunities available for them—I encourage everyone to join us on August 4th.”

The historic Terminal Tower will be illuminated in green on Wednesday, August 10, to recognize Child Support Awareness Month.

“I am grateful for the OCSS team members who work with parents to create a family-centered child support program. The work we do throughout OCSS has a far-reaching impact on children and families in the community,” said OCSS Director Tiffany Dobbins-Brazelton.

The OCSS works to help families through programs such as the Fatherhood Initiative, a program designed to encourage fathers to play a more active role in nurturing and raising their children. To date, the Fatherhood Initiative has helped thousands of fathers and families. One in three children are touched by OCSS in some way. More than 1 million children are served statewide in Ohio’s Child Support program each year.

In recognition of Child Support Awareness Month, Cuyahoga County will be celebrating the child support program throughout the month with special activities like a children’s coloring contest and service information sharing at the Cuyahoga County Fair.

The OCSS has enhanced services to customers with the availability of child support information via a free mobile app platform. The “Ohio Child Support” app offers secure and easy access to child support information on the go.
