Adoptable Kids

Adopting a child can be a rewarding and lifechanging experience. The Division of Children and Family Services is looking for families or single adults from all backgrounds who want to give a safe, loving, permanent home to children who need a family.

  • Most children waiting for adoption are African American and Caucasian children ages 10 and older.
  • Many are sibling groups who need to stay together, teenagers, or children who have special needs (including physical, emotional or mental disabilities).
  • Adoptive families can include relatives, single parents, and same sex couples.

Connor, Kahlen, and Claire

Connor is a charming young man who likes to joke around and play fun tricks on his friends and family. He does very well in school, excelling in Math. He finds school to be easy and enjoys meeting new people. Connor is taking Advanced Placement classes and is proud of his accomplishments. His dream is to become a lawyer. He is on the football team and plans to join track for field events.

Kahlen, who prefers to be called “Kay”, is inquisitive and creative. She describes herself as artistic and funny. She is an avid reader and enjoys curling up with a good book. She likes to pretend that she is a background character in the story. She is excited to be entering high school this year and will be in Advanced Placement classes in her favorite subject, English. Her future goals are to be an architect or an interior designer.

Claire is a bubbly girl with a warm smile. She is excited to be entering middle school where she plans to play volleyball and run track. She describes herself as a funny, smart, confident person with a positive attitude. Math and music are her favorite subjects in school. She earned all A’s and B’s the entire school year. She sees her future as a doctor or lawyer. Claire enjoys playing football with her siblings, listening to music, journaling, playing board games, and loves the challenge of a 1000-piece puzzle. She dabbles in art and enjoys baking.
