Adoptable Kids
Adopting a child can be a rewarding and lifechanging experience. The Division of Children and Family Services is looking for families or single adults from all backgrounds who want to give a safe, loving, permanent home to children who need a family.
- Most children waiting for adoption are African American and Caucasian children ages 10 and older.
- Many are sibling groups who need to stay together, teenagers, or children who have special needs (including physical, emotional or mental disabilities).
- Adoptive families can include relatives, single parents, and same sex couples.

Akhira is a sweet and loveable girl, with a beautiful smile. Initially, she can appear shy, but she is very bubbly and engaging once she gets to know you. Akhira is very inquisitive and loves to learn new things. She enjoys being helpful and likes to assist with cooking and household chores. Akhira also likes being around other children and making new friends. She really enjoys being outdoors and engaging in community activities where other children are involved. Although she is in a home separate from her older sibling, Akhira desires to someday be in the same home with her sister.
Akhira is in need a family that would be able to provide patience, structure, stability and keep her active. Could this be you?
